Also called turkey berry this is a large plant producing white flowers year round. Common on roadsides. Known as 'Chundakai' in South Asia. In Cameroon the leaves are reportedly used as a haemostatic. In home remedies the roots are used in poulticing cracks in the feet. The fresh berries are green in colour. and are used as a rich source of iron. A thorny shrub, leaves oval, flowers white, berries round. The berries are used in a South Indian sauce called vattal kazhambu.
